We are celebrating Epiphany for eight weeks, with three of these weeks focused on our Saving Justice series. This series aims to help us gain a biblical understanding of justice and draw us closer to the heart of God, prompting questions like: How do we as the Church bear witness to our faith while living in a culture and a world full of injustice? How do we hear and embody God’s vision of justice for the oppressed? “Saving Justice” is a play on words; we know Jesus came to save us from sin and death and bring justice and hope for the oppressed (Isaiah 42, James 2:1-13, Luke 4:18). It is not one or the other. The Good News is a declaration of salvation from sin and death, and a declaration of God’s shalom and justice breaking into our world in tangible ways. God’s salvation is just, and God’s justice saves.
