Foster Care &
Family Reunification

support foster families

God is a Father who cares radically for vulnerable kids, and who calls his people to “care for the orphan and the widow.” James 1:27

The Family Room

Imago Dei is proud to partner with The Family Room whose mission is to increase the likelihood that children living in foster care can be successfully reunited with their birth parents. The program provides supervised visits in a homelike space, which increases both the quantity and quality of supervised time families spend together. We are honored to share our space with them multiple times each week. 86% of families that participate in TFR’s programs ultimately successfully reunite permanently!

As of summer 2026, Family Room’s biggest volunteer needs are for a few folks to step in and commit monthly to serving in our gym from 4-6pm on Monday or Wednesday afternoons. Also another way to serve is providing some freezer meals for future enjoyment.

foster & adoptive parents support network

Join us as we share dinner together as families meet for mutual encouragement and support. Anyone who is involved in foster care, adoption, or providing respite for families is invited to attend the 2nd Fridays of each month at 6:00pm. Childcare will be provided. If you’re a foster or adoptive parent, contact Mike Pinkerton, at mikepinkerton4x4@gmail.com for more information and to connect.

We consistently need partners to join us in caring for kids while parents process and share with one another. If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete our volunteer application here and check the “Justice & Mercy” interest box. If you want to serve at one of the monthly dinners supporting foster/adoptive parents, email alison@idcpdx.com.

foster Parents night out

Serving Foster Families and Their Kids: Foster Parents’ Night Out (FPNO) provides foster parents one evening each month to care for themselves and their marriages while we care for their kids. We provide these kids in foster care a fun evening during which they experience God’s love and know their lives are valuable to Him.

There are many ways to get involved, including hospitality, games, arts and crafts, meals, and security.

Apply now to serve! Email Jean at FPNO@idcpdx.com if you have any questions.
