Begun by our Imago Elder-on-Mission, Dr. Garry Friesen, ABC exists to wipe out biblical illiteracy in Rwanda. All the Bible in Community is led by a team of Rwandan leaders that have joined Dr. G in bringing the fullness of scripture to their home. Their work and commitment has led to pastor trainings, first time scholarly conferences, and what will be the largest theological library in East Africa.

Since 2006, The Water Project has been helping communities gain access to clean, safe water by providing training, expertise and financial support for water project construction. They are unlocking human potential by providing reliable water projects to communities in sub-Saharan Africa who suffer needlessly from a lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation.

Imago has been partnered with TWP for years as we annually give above and beyond to this incredible work financially as a community. Our leaders and friends in Western Kenya have paved the way for us to reimagine joy, community, and the work of Jesus in demonstrating practical ways to love our neighbors well.

A few years ago, our staff team began to be introduced to an organization based in Morelia, Mexico called NOE International. Throughout the city, roughly the size of the Portland Metro area, NOE has community centers that are committed to bringing holistic care to the kids of their city. Daily classes are offered to students before and after their typical school day. In the centers, kids are learning English, making art, learning how to play instruments, and playing basketball and volleyball until they can’t anymore. In the evenings, they’re welcomed back to youth groups and bible study in a setting where their soul is nourished on top of all the rest of it. 

As we visited in February, it was really clear that God was inviting our Imago community to partner in what God is doing through NOE. After prayer and conversation, our Elders have affirmed that “YES” this is the next part of the story for God’s global work with Imago Dei Community. With that blessing, our High School students were the first to visit and bear witness to the joy and transformation in Morelia this past June. Keeping relationships and Jesus, not just work projects, at the center, we cannot wait to see the ways the Spirit continues to connect Imago Dei Community and Noe International for the years to come. Learn more.
