STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Station 11: Jesus is buried
Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
We have come to the end of our journey through the stations of the cross. Jesus has died and now he has been buried. For Jesus’ first followers, this was the moment that their hopes were truly crushed, now convinced that this was the end of their beloved friend, teacher, and king. While we know that Jesus’ resurrection from the dead is only days away, we can imagine the pain of Jesus’ first disciples as we mourn the death of our savior and our God. Through his death, sin, Satan, and evil have been conquered and we have been set free.
We now invite you to take a moment to pray aloud, either in your group or individually that your faith might increase as you look in anticipation toward Jesus’ resurrection on Sunday.
