STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Station 6: Jesus falls
The Gospel accounts do not mention Jesus falling, yet as we try to visualize this sequence of events, it is difficult to imagine that after being beaten, Jesus could have walked under the weight of a forty-pound cross without stumbling or falling.
Each of us experiences moments in life in which we come to the end of ourselves; hitting our limits, we are forced to embrace our own weakness – physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually. Jesus likewise experienced the weaknesses and limitations of his human body, and in the moments as he journeyed to the cross, the frailty of humanity must have felt more present than ever.
Take a few moments to acknowledge your own frailty to God in prayer. Ask for the Spirit’s help in accepting your weaknesses with grace.
