Newcomers & Refugees

“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”

Leviticus 19:34

Imago is committed to coming alongside those that are new to the Portland area through the immigrant and refugee experience. We invite our community to welcome with tangible action as we learn with and share with newcomers in our city.

For any questions or contacts, feel free to email alison@idcpdx.com for more info.

  • Imago Dei’s 2025 Missional Grant recipient, Beacon, seeks to support refugees and immigrants who wish to learn or improve their English. If you are interested in getting involved as a student or volunteer, please email beacon@idcpdx.com to learn more. No formal teaching or second language skills are required, but can be helpful.

  • Birthed out of the heart of one of Imago’s very own and through the generosity of Imago in giving toward missional grants, we proudly support the work happening at Jubilee Hall to employ and share life with immigrants now calling Portland home. You can give, volunteer, and dream with the Jubilee team by checking out their website.

  • We are working on becoming a site for Administer Justice, which would allow us to provide legal assistance for our neighbors in need. We’ll need volunteer support to make this happen. If you’re interested in getting involved, email seth@idcpdx.com.
